Sofía López Mañán

She is a photographer, film director, illustrator, researcher, naturalist, and amateur mythologist, as well as a musician. While her initial background was in painting, a pivotal moment in her life came when she documented the closure of the Buenos Aires Zoo, prompting her to delve into the study of naturalism. Currently, her work centers on environmental issues, and she serves as an explorer for National Geographic. In 2020, she received an honorable mention in the PhMuseum Grant for her project "Nature is Dead." Additionally, in 2019, she participated in Joop Swart's Master Class. As a filmmaker she has finished her Opera Prima, a six year project on Japanese migration to Argentina called “La odisea de Kamatsu”, supported by a grant from the Argentine Cinema Institute (INCAA).
