Set against the tumultuous years of the Mexican Revolution, La Triste Historia is a tale of two young lovers separated by death and reunited during the Day of the Dead. The dramatic live performance work features Juan Trigos' Symphony No. 3, Ofrenda a los Muertos in a melding of grand concert music and film. The work premiered November 1, 2, and 3 with The Houston Symphony under the baton of Carlos Miguél Prieto, conductor of the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Mexico.
