The Education of Ellis (2013)

Inspired by the 1974 film The Education Of Sonny Carson this gritty short film is set in the city of Baltimore, MD and takes you on a journey through the lens of street hustler turned rapper ELLIS. Life after college wasn't easy, venue with a degree trying to find a job in Baltimore in slim to none. ELLIS gave up on the corporate life and found his safe haven in the street life. Late nights and long hours of working alone helm found an affection for music and realized his true desire was to become a rapper. Having grown tired of the stressful life of a hustler, ELLIS is finally ready to retire and take his musical talents elsewhere as the efforts to make traction in his own city with his music has fallen short. Frustrated with the lack of love in his hometown he devises a plan to go to New York City and collaborate with a major artist. With his dream meeting set in stone he now has another obstacle to overcome as his meeting won't be free. With production costs and life happening fast ELLIS has burned through his stash and has to come up with the money for his meeting and retirement plans. With his dreams on the line he makes a decision that can be deadly but he knows he smart enough to pull it off. Feeling ready for rap fame and the sacrifices that come with it ELLIS is willing to go all in to make his dreams come true.
