There are lots of casual drinking. Smoking is prevalent by many characters, including leads, throughout the film.

The face burning scene isn't terribly graphic but a little scary. Some of the themes and questions raised by the implications of the film (as well as having to explain the twists and turns) might confuse or "freak out" younger kids.
