Storyline:  Based on the novel by Ransom Riggs, the plot revolves around 16-year-old Jake Portman who, after a family tragedy, discovers a magical world among the ruins of an orphanage on an island off the coast of Wales. Run by the enigmatic Miss Peregrine, the home features a group of children with unique and peculiar powers. This transposition to film by Tim Burton captures the atmosphere of the novel and combined with the director's characteristic visual style, results in a very enjoyable adventure, with a taste for humor and the macabre.
