My Father, the Terrorist? (Original)
My Father, the Terrorist? is a contemplation on civil liberties, racism, and the politics of secret intelligence in Canada. Is Canada's reputation for multiculturalism a lost ideal? With little information on what constitutes a security threat, who is really at risk? How wide is the net being cast? Through a series of evocative letters written to a personified Canada, artist Safiya Randera examines her relationship with the country she once loved for its promise of freedom. She worries about the safety of her Muslim father against a continually changing political landscape - one where anybody can become a terrorist suspect.
