Storyline:  Yu Hong leaves her village for Beijing, where she begins a turbulent relationship with fellow student Zhou Wei amid protests demanding democracy. Separated by repression and exile, she seeks new paths while he drifts through Germany’s unrest. Years later, as the Berlin Wall falls, Zhou returns to China, and the two reunite as transformed souls in a transformed world.
