This historical drama directed by Steven Spielberg is set in 1865, as the Civil War draws to a close. The president, Abraham Lincoln, intends to push through a constitutional amendment that will forever ban slavery in the country. To do so, Lincoln must get the votes in an adverse Congress before peace is declared and it may be too late for abolition. Daniel Day-Lewis won his third Oscar for his performance as Lincoln, being the epicenter of a serious and solemn film.
