Plot Summary

This electrifying musical revolves around the rise, fall and triumph of a talented group of soul singers during the '60s and '70s. Set in the world of the music industry, it is the story of a trio of young African-American girls: Effie, Deena and Lorrell, played with a great deal of personality by Jennifer Hudson, Beyoncé and Anika Noni Rose. Known as The Dreamettes, they dream of leaving their mark but as success and fame come their way, the group is faced with internal, artistic differences and personal miseries. With poignant lyrics and dazzling choreography, a stellar cast featuring Jennifer Hudson (Oscar winner for this film), lavish production design and costumes, make this film a cinematic treat worth enjoying.
