Storyline:  Two high school students from different backgrounds — athlete Troy Bolton and top student Gabriella Montez — form an unexpected bond after singing karaoke together on New Year's Eve. When they are reunited at East High, they audition for the school musical, unintentionally challenging social norms and provoking the drama elite.
