Orthogenesis (2005)

(or·tho·gen·e·sis, noun, New Latin, 1895. Evolution in successive generations that takes place in a predestined direction independent of external factors) "Orthogenesis" is the story of Ayden Lee, a young, beautiful woman who, orphaned as a child by her mother's disappearance, discovers through very unconventional means that she is living her last days on Earth before becoming something else. Her feelings of shock, fear, and even 'why me?' turn to quiet acceptance as she tries to come to terms with the impending loss of her young life; revisiting the pastimes she hopes to remember, and passing her meager legacy to the people she loves.
