Storyline:  Veteran Parisian actor Gilbert Valence sees his life upended when his wife, daughter, and son-in-law die in a car accident, leaving him to raise his grandson. While he continues working on stage, he rejects superficial roles. Pressured into a miscast part in an English adaptation of Ulysses, he realizes the limits of his age and decides it is time to step away.
