Storyline:  After Mulligan’s gang hides in Alabama, Grace refuses to move on after discovering Manderlay, a plantation still ruled by slavery under Mam’s law. She forces the heirs to relinquish control, turning slaves into supposed free partners and trying to teach democracy. Her ignorance of local ways deepens conflicts, leaving her changed by the time her father returns.
