Plot Summary

Frank Corvin, 'Hawk' Hawkins, Jerry O'Neill, and 'Tank' Sullivan, once daring members of Project Daedalus, find their space dreams thwarted by NASA's use of trained chimps in 1958. But they seize a new opportunity when Russia's enigmatic 'Ikon' satellite starts to falter in orbit, putting Earth at risk. To salvage the situation, they resort to a bit of blackmail and launch a daring mission into space.
