Traffic (2000)

Biased review alert, this is one of my all-time favorites. I watched it even before I fully understood what the actual sbject was, but on a cinematographic level, I could somehow ~feel it was a GREAT film. The use of color and lighting is just unique for the time, and creates a language of its own, not to mention the uber-level cast (I think this is when I started type-casting Benicio Del Toro forever as a pasty, sleazy con-man type, totally not my fault) and writing. The pacing is incredibly calculated. In case you're wondering, yes, I did watch it again later on and understand the context: I still re-watch it to this day. It's a fantastic movie, nothing else needs to be said.

Incrível constatar que Traffic já tem mais de 20 anos. Mais incrível ainda é observar que a "Guerra contra as drogas", que começou oficialmente como campanha governamental ns EUA lá nos anos '70 e '80 do século passado não obtiveram resultado algum, mesmo com bilhões de dólares consumidos em órgãos nas mais diversas frentes. Drogas estão em toda parte, no mundo todo, fáceis de obter e consumir. A parte positiva é que é um material inesgotável para filmes e séries de múltiplas nacionalidades. Todo o mundo tem história para contar sobre o tema.

Filmão de Steven Soderbergh (aliás cade ele?). Narrativa interessante é com as cores da iluminação. Elas vão mudando de lugar para lugar da história e ajudam muito a estabelecer o clima de cada núcleo do filme.
