The Others (2001)

Grace lives in a gloomy Victorian mansion on the island of Jersey where she raises her daughter and son; she also has to care for them with a disease that makes them ultra-sensitive to daylight. When three new servants begin to work, Grace makes clear one rule: the house must always be dark and only open a door if the previous one has already been closed. A chilling film for its sense of terror that doesn't go for the easy scare (although it doesn't lack it either), with a claustrophobic atmosphere and a memorable performance by Nicole Kidman.
