Reflections in a Golden Eye (1967)

Set in the American South, the film follows the lives of two couples living on a military base. Lieutenant Colonel Morris Langdon and his wife, Leonora, share a tense marriage, while their enigmatic neighbours, Captain Weldon Penderton and his troubled wife, Alison, are entangled in their own web of secrets. In addition, a voyeuristic young soldier is also part of this story, full of unspoken desires and jealousy, until a shocking event throws the characters into a spiral that explodes all that is repressed. Directed by John Huston, the film explores issues of sexuality and social conformity and features brilliant performances.
