Storyline:  In 1962, a Soviet intelligence officer defects to the U.S., revealing plans for a nuclear missile buildup in Cuba. With U.S. relations with Cuba strained, the CIA turns to a French agent, André Devereaux, for discreet help. Devereaux uncovers critical evidence in Cuba and discovers a spy ring, "Topaz," within French intelligence. As he closes in on the traitor, personal betrayals and political intrigue collide in a race against time.
