Storyline:  On a remote island off the Carolina coast, game warden Miller lives alone with Evvie, a young girl he's drawn to. When Traver, a Black musician fleeing a lynch mob, arrives, Miller wants him gone. But Evvie protects Traver. A preacher arrives to remove Evvie from the situation, forcing Miller to choose between justice and control.
