Storyline:  In a tumultuous town in late 19th-century Japan, a cunning ronin named Sanjuro Kuwabatake arrives, finding it divided by two ruthless gangsters: Ushitora and Seibei. He decides to play both sides against each other, initially posing as a bodyguard for each warlord.
