The Killing (1956)

Plot Summary

In Stanley Kubrick's debut noir masterpiece, ex-convict Johnny Clay plans a $2 million racetrack heist with an eclectic team consisting of a sharpshooter, a corrupt police officer, a bartender, and a betting teller, immersing themselves completely in a meticulous robbery. Adapted from Lionel White's novel, it is a tale of precision and irony, even though in the noir world, there is never a perfect crime. Kubrick, with his characteristic precision and unyielding humor, creates a lively thriller that hits like a ruthless blow.
