When a girl acts rudely toward the main character by sticking her tongue out at him, he throws a potato at her (she has no visible injuries.)

Two men who were previously said to like the same woman are briefly shown yelling at and punching each other, then they punch another man when he steps in to break up the fight. As they continue fighting, the man's son joins the scuffle and jumps on another man's shoulders. The father is later seen with a bruised eye and his son has a few small cuts on his cheek.

In one scene, the father asks his son to pass him his pipe and he is shown loading it and puffing on it. Both of them discuss planting tobacco leaves.

Near the beginning of the movie, the father and son go on a bear hunt with their hunting dogs, chasing the bear through the forest. The scene ends with the bear and the dogs snarling and growling at each other for several minutes before the bear runs off. The father says that he'll have to carry one of the dog's home because it's too weak to walk, although it has no visible injuries.
