Plot Summary

Fred and Bob, experiencing hardships in Mexico, eventually join Howard in the search for gold. Although they are initially successful, they have to deal with bandits, environmental difficulties, and competition. John Huston's direction is masterful, capturing both the harsh beauty of the Mexican landscape and the psychological tension that builds as the characters become consumed by greed.
