Storyline:  Warren Haggerty, editor-in-chief of the New York Evening Star, keeps postponing his marriage to Gladys due to constant crises at the paper. When heiress Connie Allenbury sues the newspaper for $5 million after being falsely accused of breaking up marriages, Warren devises a daring scheme. He convinces Gladys to enter into a sham marriage with notorious womanizer Bill Chandler, planning to trap Connie in a compromising situation with a "married man" to discredit her lawsuit. But as emotions get tangled in the web of deception, the plan takes some very unexpected turns.
