Plot Summary

Melvin Udall, an eccentric novelist with obsessive-compulsive disorder, befriends a waitress, Carol Connelly, the only one who tolerates his sarcasm. Simon Nye, a talented artist who is Melvin's neighbor, is brutally attacked. His dog, Verdall, is the central figure that intertwines these three characters, leading to unexpected situations. This captivating comedy-drama features witty dialogue and terrific performances by Jack Nicholson, Helen Hunt and Greg Kinnear, all of whom received multiple awards and recognition.
