Thelma & Louise (1991)

Established as a cult classic, the film incorporates elements of the western and appropriates subgenres such as buddy-film (here starring women) and road-movies, as well as featuring extraordinary performances by Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon. Two friends, Thelma and Louise, take a weekend trip that will change their lives: Thelma is a submissive housewife, while Louise is a characterful and independent waitress. As they travel through the American Southwest they are confronted with sexism, harassment and violence, and due to unjust situations they soon find themselves on the run from the law.
