Storyline: In the 1890s, Father Adolf Daens arrives in Aalst and is shocked by child labor and brutal factory conditions. After writing columns condemning the abuses, he gains support from workers and faces backlash from the Catholic elite. Expelled from the Catholic party, he forms the Christian Democrats and is elected to Parliament, forced to choose between priesthood and activism.
