Storyline:  Deloris Van Cartier, a cabaret singer, witnesses a murder committed by her boyfriend Vince, a mobster. Fearing for her own life, she takes part in the witness protection program by pretending to be a nun in a convent. Her presence clashes with the Mother Superior, but when Deloris takes over the choir and infuses it with a new vitality, things improve for everyone. This entertaining comedy starring Whoopi Goldberg with some inspired musical moments turned out to be one of the most successful comedies of the '90s.
