Mamoru Oshii’s vision of future machinery is not overly futuristic, keeping all technological aspects within plausible limits, making this film more realistic compared to“ Ghost in the Shell”. The 1989 character designs have a distinctive mark of that era, but the settings are on par with contemporary animations.
