Storyline:  Journalist John Reed travels to Russia to cover the Bolshevik Revolution and returns transformed. His political zeal draws him to feminist writer Louise Bryant. As their romance deepens, ideological rifts and personal struggles emerge. Bryant turns to a playwright, and Reed, consumed by revolution, returns to Russia, where his health begins to fail.
