Storyline:  In Paris in 1933, eighteen-year-old Violette Nozière lives with her working-class parents while maintaining a hidden life in the city. She finances it through theft and prostitution, becomes involved with a pimp, and deceives her family about illness and money. When her future is threatened, Violette poisons her parents, leaving one alive, and is brought to trial.
