The Great Gatsby (1974)

April 10, 1925, Scribner's published F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby. Often called the great American novel, it critiqued American consumerism while also meditating on the power of memory and our collective longing for the past. Best book cover ever? It has spawned two major movie adaptations. Once in 1974, starring Robert Redford and Mia Farrow with a script by Francis Ford Coppola and directed by Jack Clayton. Again in 2013, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan, and directed by Baz Luhrmann. Have you read this book? Have you seen these movies? What's your take on The Great Gatsby?
