Storyline:  Three convicts break out of Mississippi State Penitentiary in 1936 to join a third for a spree of bank robberies, each with their own vices and romances. The youngest falls in love with a girl at their hideout, the eldest is a seasoned criminal with a romance of his own, and the third is a hard-drinking, fast-loving career thief. Their last robbery in Yazoo City goes disastrously, ending the gang’s profitable run—but their notoriety ensures the story isn’t over.
