Storyline:  In a Tokyo slum, daily life revolves around Rokkuchan, who finds purpose by imagining himself at the controls of a streetcar. Around him, children gather what they can to support their families, adults endure exhausting and poorly paid work, and others devise schemes or dream of leaving the conditions that confine them.
