Through a tour of the oldest archaeological sites in the Canary Islands and ancient Mauritania, with the help of numerous experts, we will explore the origins of the ancient prehistory of the islands, revealing what we know about the arrival of the first inhabitants in the archipelago.Current studies place the origin of the ancient inhabitants of the islands in North Africa, in a wide area that includes the current States of Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco and Mauritania. The parallelism between the ancient insular cultures of the Canary Islands and the Amazigh communities of North Africa clears the doubts about the Amazigh or Berber origin of the first settlers. On the other hand, the Roman and Phoenician presence in the continent also seems to be verified and its influence conditions the current studies. The questions that researchers continue to ask are why and when: whether they came on their own or were transported to the islands, if they were displaced by natural causes or were forcibly displaced. From the myth to the scientific study, the first settlement of the Canary Islands continues generating intense debates and opposing positions. From different academic approaches the documentary proposes an approach to the most accepted theories about the first Canarian settlement and its relationship with the Mediterranean and Atlantic historical evolution.
