Inspired by her stage play "The Creeps", L.A based New Zealand born writer and actor Catherine Waller has taken the original material in a bold new direction for screen. Auckland based New Zealand director and producer Grae Burton worked closely with Catherine for three weeks via skype and email prior to going the Hollywood to shoot the film with the team that Catherine had assembled. Shot on a shoe string budget (under $6,000 NZ including flights) over four days the short film embraced a geurilla shoot style, often without any members of the public around them realising a film shoot was going on. Catherine immersed herself into the world of the homeless experiencing what it means to be alone in that world without acknowledgement as a human being. The shooting also embraced an irregular style mixing Canon DSLR camera shooting with additional shooting on a Samsung Galaxy S7 and a Samsung Virtual Reality Gear360 cam. Looped dialogue was recorded many weeks later back in Auckland. The virtual reality 360cam version of the film was also captured and will be assembled as an art piece to be released in 2017. Inspired by the film making of Darren Aronofsky and David Lynch Creep seeks to engage and unsettle, presenting a hard hitting story that creeps up on its audience.
