Storyline:  Menashe, a widower in the Hasidic community of Brooklyn, fights to regain custody of his son Rieven. Pressured to remarry by the rabbi and community, he resists due to a painful first marriage. Though deeply bonded with Rieven, his low-wage job and chaotic routine cast doubt on his ability to care for the boy alone. Still, he tries to prove he can be a father without remarrying.
