Kratts - animated mechanisms with souls, made of household and farm implements - are physically abused in various ways by the peasants. One kratt threatens a man with sharp implements. A kratt's head explodes in frustration.
Animals: A dangerous pig is implied to be killed with a scythe. We see a calf forcibly hauled into the air with a chain. A witch has dead animals in her larder, but these are barely seen in the dark. We see a few feathers plucked from a chicken (for dinner), and hear references to slaughtering a pig, slitting its throat.
There's not much visible blood in this black-and-white film. A statue bleeds a little, and we see a plume of blood in water. A Bible bleeds a little. A man's neck is scratched.
