Parents have sex fully clothed, father with back to viewer, mother stradling. there is a voiceover by the mother character which indicates her participation is mechanical and purely the result of her programming. She appears to weep, suggesting she is sentient and sees her role as similar to that of a slave.

There is a simmering threat of violence during many minutes of this film, but it serves mainly to raise the tension and stress levels of the audience. See the Frightening and Intense section for details.

Before I saw this film I didn't know Virginia Slim type cigarettes were still a thing. Apparently they are in Poland! The actor Marieta Zukowska smokes. And I mean that both ways.

The 13 year old boy is beaten -- but is it by his mother or father? We witness both in short, chaotic snippets, although the final, and longest one, depicts the mother doing the beating. The boy shows his mother the bruises during a therapy session shortly afterwards.
