The first-ever definitive DVD documentary and concert film chronicling the rise of the modern punk, emo and hardcore music scene. The comprehensive concert film and documentary DVD was created/produced by Michelle Caputo and directed by Shannon Hartman of Art and Industry. The two-disc set runs over three-and-half-hours and includes live performances and backstage footage from artists such as THURSDAY, TAKING BACK SUNDAY, UNDEROATH, FROM AUTUMN TO ASHES, THE STARTING LINE, ARMOR FOR SLEEP, MIDTOWN, THE EARLY NOVEMBER, MATCHBOOK ROMANCE and EMANUEL; plus interviews with JIMMY EAT WORLD, FALL OUT BOY, JULIANA THEORY, THE BEAUTIFUL MISTAKE and SOMETHING CORPORATE. Unlike the mainstream, chart-topping genres, "modern punk" has managed to become successful today not only for its hooky choruses, emotional, heartfelt lyrics and frenetic live shows, but because it's striking a chord as a lifestyle. The artists featured on BASTARDS OF YOUNG range from those playing basements with no record label to those with platinum status. Producer Michelle Caputo explains the evolution of BASTARDS OF YOUNG: "We recognized a phenomenon within the culture of this scene. It can be traced back to the early days of hardcore punk wherein there existed a true "DIY" ethos and connection between the musicians and the fans. We saw a real story in that these musicians have maintained a pure and true connection and have utilized today's resources to allow that outreach to grow exponentially. We're reflecting the same ethos in the promotion of Bastards of Young." Throughout BASTARDS OF YOUNG, the bands and fans at the forefront of the "DIY" independent scene tell the story of how they built a following from basement gigs to arena shows, one fan-and one friend-at a time. The DVD set is the first to ever document a music scene happening today that defies tradition and is making music history; this is the story of the Bastards of Young.
