Recrucified

Manolis (28), a faithless gambler, returns home to a secluded, religious island community to receive his bulky inheritance. Although he hasn't spoken to his dying father, Patriarcheas, in years, Manolis is determined to make amends. Upon his arrival, the Bishop casts him as Christ in the annual Easter Passion Play and, in his effort to be accepted back by the community, Manolis eventually accepts. His father's right-hand man Panagiotis introduces him to the family business, which as he discovers is a curse instead of a gift; A hotel empire built on black money, fraud and corruption. A foreign investor, Janssen, his father's business partner, bribes the archaeological service and locals to turn a blind eye on their new project: a luxury hotel, built on grounds owned by the church and rich in ancient findings. During rehearsals for the Easter passion play, Manolis grows close to Katerina, an enchanting woman playing Magdalene who shows him an even darker side to his father. For months, the mayor has rejected help to hundreds of refugees crammed in a makeshift camp on the other side of the island. Father-Fotis, an enlightened priest taking care of the refugees, challenges Manolis to help, by taking a hard look at himself, his choices and lack of faith.
