An evil takes over the world. A mother and her two sons take refuge in their home, an isolated cabin in the forest, and know that the only protection they have is the family bond that unites them. Tied with ropes to go out hunting or looking for supplies, they strictly respect their mother's requests to ensure their safety. Until one day, one of the children begins to question the existence of evil, causing the sacred bond to break and unleashing a desperate struggle for survival.
The whole story was really good, though. One question we had was whether there were actually monsters in the woods, but I didn’t see the ending coming at all.
The director usually makes great films, but this one is an exception. He shifted away from his typical gore stuff and dived into metaphors instead. It feels like he abandoned what he was good at, and it didn’t pay off.
The film seems to carry some religious symbolism, with a demon resembling a serpent. Halle Berry's stellar performance enhances the film's credibility, and the dense forest setting adds to the fear of the unknown, drawing the audience deeper into the narrative. However, the movie's pacing is slow and overly reliant on jump scares.
This low-budget film doesn’t offer much to praise. It relies heavily on sound effects and the usual fare of scare tactics to create a typical horror atmosphere. The ending is open-ended, and Halle Berry only appears in the first half. The rest of the screen time is dominated by two young characters.
Never let go is a difficult 14 me to review because the fact that the matter is the movie with such a mind trip I don't know how other to describe it rather than exactly that a total trip. It's got so many twists and nuances that it's hard to determine what the antagonistic force exactly is which makes the movie interesting and the jump scares are definitely an added plus because of that when they do occur and believe you me there are some interesting jump scares in this movie however I will say that it was a very odd story other than the fact that Halle Berry delivered an extraordinary performance as someone who is obviously a psychopath as far as my observations were concerned it was a very weird story and it had a lot of twist and turns that made it a little bit difficult to analyze. All in all it's a mixed bag the person that I watched it with thought it was completely stupid and didn't like it at all but I thought that some of the psychological terrors and the horror associated with the possibilities in this movie made it nothing shortof a trip.Read more...
