A color documentary with historical black and white archive footage, depicting the early post-war period from May 1945 to the 20th anniversary of the founding of the GDR in 1969. This (advertising) film from the GDR only shows the socialist-run country from its positive and peace-loving side. It becomes clear that this is a credit to the members of the SED Central Committee and the working population and that the GDR is the home of a liberated people in which people are happy and in which the great idea of human self-realization is fulfilled.
