Remembering Tomorrow

Ernest, a 60-year-old man stands at the register waiting to pay for his coffee. While trying to pay for his coffee, he accidentally knocks over a stack of paper cups and awkwardly tries to help pick it up. Ernest goes to work and is bothered by his talkative co-worker Justin seemingly asks Ernest about his weekend, just as a prompt so that he can talk about his. Bombarded with a barrage of Justin's weekend full of activities, Ernest makes the excuse to go get a cup of coffee from the break room. While walking there, Ernest picks up on conversations about other people's fun weekends full of activities, realizing that he must have been the only one who didn't have an eventful weekend. While at the break room, he is Intrupeted by Ayla, the office's HR representative who reminds Ernest that he needs to fill out the beneficiary for the new insurance plan, understanding its hard for Ernest since he does not have a family. When she leaves, Ernest spots a business card with a shiny gold encrusted logo spelling out, "Re-Memory" and sees the slogan, "buy and experience the memories of others." Ernest starts to wonder if perhaps buying a memory of someone may give him a person to put on the form.
