Storyline:  In this touching story, three unlikely young friends embark on the adventure of a lifetime. Determined to overcome the cancer she's battling, Sam escapes from the juvenile hospital ward to undertake a potentially perilous journey to climb Taranaki Maunga—a mountain with deep cultural and personal significance for her as a Māori. Meanwhile, Bronco, a spirited Māori boy feeling overlooked by his single father, and Mallory, who is grappling with loneliness after his mother's recent death, cross paths. The two boys quickly join Sam on her secret mission to reach Taranaki, forming a close bond as their anxious parents begin searching for them, worried about their safety and health. As the trio nears their goal, they encounter numerous challenges and it becomes apparent that Sam's condition is more serious than she has let on. Upon reaching the mountain, they confront difficult truths and learn profound lessons that will stay with them forever.
