Storyline:  In a small Dutch village in the Middle Ages, full of religious fanaticism and superstitions, Frieda tries to conceive a child with her husband. When she fails, the villagers begin to suspect that she has a pact with the devil who dwells in the forest. After surviving an attempted rape in the same forest, with the help of an evil entity, Frieda returns to the village with a new faith.
