Storyline:  Introverted and self-conscious, Anx doesn't see himself as a likely match for Cass, the dynamic and confident woman he wakes up next to after what he thought was a one-night stand. Despite their differences, a romance starts to develop. However, their budding relationship faces a dire threat when a mysterious disease begins sweeping the globe, causing those infected to merge with everything they touch. As Anx and Cass are confined to his cramped apartment, their environment starts to blend with their neighbors, forming a spongy new life form that aims to assimilate the couple into its growing mass.
