Sherlock Holmes has moved to the USA where he works with a female partner, serving the NYPD.
The scriptwriter is brilliant at crafting fresh and tightly woven plots, although the acting is slightly underwhelming. Lucy Liu might not seem attractive initially, but she becomes more and more appealing as the series progresses.
"Elementary" is a slow burner that grows on you with each episode, and the interactions between Watson and Sherlock Holmes gradually becomes even more interesting. It earns an 8 out of 10 from me mainly because its mysteries are unique and non-repetitive, which is rare for an American series with so many episodes (which would inevitably typically cause a decline in plot quality).
A new classic. When it comes to changing the original story, this is my favorite Holmes’ adaptation. Liu’s Watson is remarkable, she can create a brand-new character and you still identify the doctor’s main features. Also, we can’t ignore Johnny Lee’s Sherlock, the actor is brilliant and he gives the detective his own touch.
