During the programme's first few seasons (when it broadcast on BBC Two) it retained some of the sexual appeal that Graham Norton's Channel 4 shows had but was far toned down. It was ditched completely with the move to BBC One in favour of dialogue humour from the celebrities.

Mostly moderate-level language like "Shit", "Asshole", "Bastard", "Dick", "Bitch", "Damn" and "Hell" is used. Some British slang is also used. Stronger words like "Fuck" are less frequent. Rude gestures are used as well (I.e. Middle Fingers).

Because of the show's anything goes nature, the swearing depends on the guests who are featured.

There is far less profanity than Graham Norton's Channel 4 shows.

Some of the guests on the show may drink alcohol. On occasion they are completely drunk, which is played for laughs, is an exception, and is not the intended goal for serving alcohol.
