As the title says, the majority of this documentary mini series is about the civil war battles.

Throughout this mini series, there are lots of very realistic reenactment scenes of groups of people attacking and shooting each other with rifles and cannons. The body count is extremely high.

There is some realistic blood on several of the people getting shot and injured/killed, but not too much.

There is one realistic scene of injured being enduring extremely painful surgery that involves feet sawed off. Nothing too detailed is shown, but some people may find it hard to watch anyway.

Illustrations of executions, involving shooting, stabbing and hanging, are shown near the end.

Very, very mild language. A few uses of "God".

The amount of on-screen casual cigar smoking is very, very minimal.

This mini series is mainly about the battles that occurred during the Civil War. The reenactment scenes covering these battles with every details as possible are very realistic, and may be very intense.
